Stem Cell Organizations

There are many stem cell organizations that are researching stem cells. The main international ones are the International Stem Cell Forum, the International Society for Stem Cell Research, and the UK Stem Cell Bank. The International Stem Cell Forum is made up of 14 funders of stem cell research. Founded in January 2003, it funds support for stem cell research aiming to encourage other foundations to do stem cell research. The International Society for Stem Cell Research is a nonprofit organization that shares information in all areas of stem cell research to the public. The UK Stem Cell Bank is funded by the UK Medical Research Council which is responsible for storing, characterizing, and supplying stem cells for medical research and treatment. These are the big international organizations.

There are many other ones that are smaller but are just as important. The Australian Stem Cell Centre combines the work of many academic researchers. The Canadian Institutes of Health Research funds major stem cell research in Canada. The Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research in China researches only embryonic stem cells. The EuroStemCell organization takes the work of eleven academic institutes and compares them against each other. The National Technology Agency of Finland is the main public stem cell organization in Finland. The Hadassah Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research Center of Israel is a branch of a hospital that researches embryonic stem cells. The RIKEN Center for Developmental Biology in Japan tries to grow stem stem cells. The Stem Cell Research Singapore provides funds for stem cell research in Singapore. The Scottish Stem Cell Network is a forum of scientists that focuses on the advancment in stem cell biology. The UK National Stem Cell Network tries to advance the research of basic stem cell functions. These are the smaller national organizations that are not able to make a lot of progress because they do not have sufficient funding.
